Good to see you too Maz.
I think its well worth practicing with a punchbag or pad and work on generating the power. Those of us who are not that big or heavy HAVE to work on the technical stuff even more, but its better in the long run,
A few things need to happen AT THE SAME TIME at the moment of impact -
1 your whole body weight must be accelerating forward AND dropping (both as fast as poss)
2 concentrate on the belly button area from where the kihyap comes from, and do the kihyap while tensing all your muscles
3 hip twist - as fast as poss
4 reaction hand/arm - as fast as poss
5 the back foot or foot on the ground - push the heel INTO the ground and forwards, as if you are about to jump FORWARDS
6 intention - you must WANT to break the board, it helps to get yourself psyched up...don't think, just FEEL that feeling that you're going to break it and you KNOW it....it sometimes helps to think of someone / something you dislike and imagine its them! This is where if your're afraid of getting hurt or you think you won't break it you undermine yourself.....don't worry about the possible failure until it happens!
7 accuracy of course!
8 the initial impact must be SHARP --a bit like when you open a jam jar, if you apply steady force nothing happens..when you twist the lid suddenly it opens. What the sharp impact does is get the two bits of the board "loosened" and starting to move And to make the impact sharp, all of 1-7 above need to happen!
9 Keep moving! Once the two bits of board are loosened, if you stop then nothing happens! This is why people say concentrate on a point a few inches BEHIND the board so you dont stop...to be honest, even if you only move an INCH further you shoulkd break it.
10 once you've done it once you know that you can do it, so it helps with the confidence. The confidence is a big part of it.
I'm still working on all of the above...I'm sure we all are, but the more often you practice the better you get

Get £520 from the taxman!!!! Quick, before 31 Jan « Result #7 on Jan 26, 2009, 7:18pm »
The Govt brought in Childrens Tax Credit during the early 2000's, but not all parents got their tax benefit or knew about it. If you have a child who was under 16 during 2002-3 you may be entitled. (You've missed the deadline for 2001-2 which was 31 Jan 2008!) You could get £520 !!
This is what you do: Download form 11CTC from www.hmrc.gov.uk ...this needs to be filled in & given in to your Tax Office BEFORE the deadline of 31 Jan 2009.
There is a helpline no on the form, but if no joy try 08453021442. They can check to see if you have already had your entitlement or not. They can also tell you which tax office to give your completed form to. Do it asap, its quite a simple form to fill in..remember 31 Jan is the deadline!!
